Birds of the Illawarra 2019

The season is over. There is some very disturbing news from Cornell Lab of Ornithology: bird numbers have declined by 30 per cent since 1970 in the USA and Canada. Is this happening in the Illawarra?

Lone Pied cormorant ( Phalacrocorax varius) flying overhead.

Australian pelican ( Pelecanus conspicillatus) in a flock of three.

Silver gull ( Larus novaehollandiae) flying with numerous others.

Not a great deal of variety on a cool spring afternoon at these locations.
